Meet Norma,
Norma is a Westminster resident who has been using the Cycle Connect service since it started.
Norma goes on a weekly ride to attend art class, run errands, get exercise, and chat with Pilots.
“It’s good exercise for my arthritic knees…although I find it very difficult walking, I am amazed at how I am able to pedal.
I’ve really enjoyed riding and I am quite surprised at how flexible [my knee] is. Apart from going out and doing things, that’s really why I go out riding once a week.”
– Norma
What does a typical ride look like for Norma?
Our Cycle Connect Pilot, Erma, meets Norma outside her home and helps her board the side-by-side cycle.
They set off on their ride, receiving smiles and waves from people they meet along the way.
Norma picks up medication from her local pharmacy. Erma ensures her walking aid is securely attached to the cycle.
They continue their ride – sometimes Norma leads the way and sometimes she asks Erma to choose the route for her.
One last stop. Erma parks the cycle close to the entrance and Norma drops off her jacket at the dry cleaners.
Norma and Erma ride home, exploring quiet local streets on their way back.
